Helping your pet achieve and maintain their best quality of life
We prescribe regular checkups and preventive home care to keep your pet healthy. Wellness visits provide an opportunity for a thorough examination and time to answer your questions and make helpful suggestions.
New Pet Consultations
First impressions are crucial to establishing enduring relationships. We encourage new pet owners, or those new to our practice, to schedule a first-time consultation. You will meet Dr. Kevin and our team, tour our facility, and familiarize yourself and your pet with our practice. We’ll examine your pet and determine a plan for preventive care and treatment of conditions as necessary.
Wellness Visits
We consider wellness visits to be crucial to ensuring your pet’s continuing health and wellbeing. They allow us to monitor your pet’s condition as they age and you to update us on any medical, behavioral, or lifestyle changes that might be of concern.
Diagnostic Tests and Vaccines
The wellness visit is also when we perform required tests and provide vaccinations. For dogs, this will include annual testing for heartworm and internal parasites. For cats, this will include a one-time feline immunodeficiency virus test, feline leukemia virus test, and annual testing for internal parasites. Based on your pet’s age and lifestyle, we will formulate a specific individualized vaccination plan to optimize disease prevention.
Parasite Prevention
We will discuss your pet’s lifestyle and vulnerability to internal parasites like heartworms, intestinal worms, and single-celled parasites during the annual check-up. We’ll ask about exposure to external parasites like ticks, fleas, and mites, and prescribe an appropriate comprehensive parasite prevention plan.
Microchip
We encourage all pet owners to allow us to implant a small, rice-sized microchip between their pet’s shoulder blades. The chip will help you find your pet should they become lost or stolen. It will also provide a way to contact friends or family should something happen to you while you are with your pet.
Nutrition
Weight management is one of the most critical factors in maintaining your pet’s health. We’ll determine your pet’s optimal weight based on their age, breed, and activity level, and help you keep them there. Overweight pets are more likely to suffer from certain cancers, arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and skin conditions.
Behavior
It’s common for young pets, new pets, and even older pets dealing with new situations to exhibit behaviors requiring modification. We can help you determine the reasons for your pet’s behavioral issues and recommend treatment for management.
Senior Care
As with their owners, your pet’s health changes as they age. We look forward to helping you keep them healthy and living their best lives through their golden years. Twice annual check-ups are critical due to the increased health risks of aging.
